What is up with scammers calling us?!

In the past week I have gotten two calls from basically the same scam, telling me that I have a worm/virus/trojan horse that is in my computer system from browsing the internet and that if I go to this one website I can get this problem taken care of. The person (heavy Indian accent) reads from a script and if I ask them a question or politely decline the "help" they start over on the script. So today I asked them to stop with reading the script and tell me who my internet provider was. If they really were who they said they were it would be VERY easy to do. Needless to say they immediately hung up. I am wondering how to get on the "Do Not Call if You're a Scammer" list.
