Lily Cat Stevens

A couple weeks ago, Wayne and I started to talk about getting a pet for the family. We went to a pet store to see what we might like to get (and what the kids would want). I found this one cat that was so sweet and was almost willing to take it home right then, but Wayne said that we should hold off and really think this decision through. We came to the consensus that we did want a pet, but the one that I really liked had some issues that we noticed and didn't feel that it was the right pet for us at this time. So last week while Ian was at swim practice I took Cali and Bruce over to the Animal Shelter to see what they had available for adoption. There were a few cats that were potential candidates and then there were two dogs that I would have loved to take home with me. When I told Wayne he said that he trusted my judgement in picking a cat/kitten, but would not allow a dog in our home. I was a little sad at his statement, but dogs are a ton more work than a cat is, and right now there isn't a lot of extra time to devote to a dog (walking, house training, etc.). Yesterday, I went with Bruce and we got a little 3 month old grey and white tabby. The shelter said that it was a female, but when we checked to see ourselves, we wondered if they were right. I then took her to the vet and they confirmed her female status. When Ian and Cali got home they were over the moon to see and play with the new kitten. It wasn't until dinner last night that we finalized a name for her...Lily Cat Stevens. Wayne says she will also go by Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens' name after he converted to Islam) if Lily Cat is too much.
